Volcano Hiking and Zip Line, Full Day Adventure Tour
… hike up the active volcano of Mombacho and zip lining, perfect for the adventuresome soul
Julio Tours will pick you up in a comfortable air conditioned vehicle from your hotel at 8am and drive to the base of Mombacho Volcano where you will transfer to a truck driven by the Park Warden. We will drive up the side of Mombacho through various coffee plantations, one of them called La Flores where we will stop for an organic cup of coffee. You can also buy coffee here to take back home with you. We will reach the beginning of our hiking destination in 30 minutes. The region is a natural cloud forest and with a keen eye you will see sloths, monkeys, parrots and many other kinds of birds. Our hike will take approximately 1 hour and we will reach an outlook where we can see all the way to Granada City and the Islands.
Hiking back to the truck will take approximately 20 minutes and we will return to the base of Mombacho and head over to the zip lining area. There are 8 different platforms and you will zip line through the coffee plantations in the cloud forest.
Depending on your pick up location, time and interest you have two more options.
You can extend your 1 hour hike to 2 hours to reach another viewpoint. The advantage of the extended hike is for your physical fitness only and does not really offer you much more in the volcano experience.
Your second option is to extend your hike to 6 hours. You will reach the top of Mombacho where you will see down into the crater as well as a spectacular view. This 6 hour hike is an incredible experience, however, difficult, and should only be taken on by those in excellent physical condition. Depending on your pick up location, there may not be time for zip lining.
